Dan is-sinjal huwa magħmul minn żewġ partijiet: (jew i) L-ewwel isir is-sinjal għal KELB, jiġifieri l-id tieħu l-forma ta’ U wieqfa ma’ ġenb in-ngħas, bil-pala ta’ l-id tħares ’il barra. Iż-żewġt iswaba’ jinżlu dritti ’l isfel mingħajr ma timxi l-id. (jew ii) It-tieni parti hija l-istess bħas-sinjal għal XKUBETTA, jiġifieri, d-dirgħajn jieħdu pożizzjoni djagonali lejn naħa waħda bl-idejn fil-livell tal-għonq jew iktar fil-għoli. L-id li tkun iktar ’il barra mill-oħra u ftit iktar ’il fuq minnha, tieħu l-forma ta’ L bil-pala ’l fuq. L-id l-oħra, bil-pala ’l ġewwa, tieħu l-forma ta’ L imma bil-werrej mgħawweġ jagħfas qisu qed jispara l-ixkubetta. L-għajnejn ġieli jsegwu l-mira ta’ l-ixkubetta.
Is-sinjal għal TARBIJA jew is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR jintużaw mas-sinjal ta’ KELB TAL-KAĊĊA biex jirreferi għall-ġeru. Is-sinjali għal ŻGĦIR u għal KBIR isiru mill-idejn forma ta’ 5 bl-idejn iħarsu lejn xulxin f’linja vertikali jew djagonali. Id-distanza bejn l-idejn tindika d-daqs tal-kelb tal-kaċċa. Il-sinjal għal KELB TAL-KAĊĊA jiġi qabel is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR jew KBIR.
Fil-plural, is-sinjal għal ĦAFNA jintuża wara s-sinjal għal KELB TAL-KAĊĊA. Ġieli ukoll tintuża classifier. F’dan il-każ id waħda jew iż-żewġ idejn jieħdu l-forma ta’ V mgħawġa imma jitpoġġew f’ħafna punti fiż-żona tas-sinjali qisu hemmhekk qed jitqiegħdu ħafna klieb tal-kaċċa.
Meta n-nom KELB TAL-KAĊĊA jkun is-suġġett ta’ verb ta’ moviment, tintuża l-forma ta’ V mgħawġa bħala classifier u l-id jew l-idejn jimxu skond l-azzjoni.
This sign is made up of two parts: (jew i) The sign for DOG is made, that is, the hand makes the shape of upright U at the side of the forehead with the palm facing outwards. The two fingers are bent straight over without any hand movement. (jew ii) The second part is the same as the sign for SHOTGUN, that is, the arms take up a diagonal position towards one side at neck level or higher. The hand that is at the end is at a slightly higher level than the other and takes the shape of L with palm up whilst the other hand, palm inwards, takes the shape of L but with the index curved pressing in readiness to shoot. The eyes often follow the gun’s target.
The sign for PUPPY is the sign for SPORTING DOG followed by that for BABY or SMALL. Alternatively, the signs for SMALL and BIG are made with two hands in the shape of 5 with palms facing each other in a vertical or diagonal direction. The distance between the hands indicates the relative size of the dog. The sign for SPORTING DOG precedes the signs for SMALL or BIG.
The plural is formed by adding the sign for MANY after the sign for SPORTING DOG. A classifier is often used. In this case one or both hands take the shape of curved V. They are placed at various points in the signing space as though several sporting dogs were actually being put into that space.
When the noun SPORTING DOG is used as the subject of a verb of movement one hand in the shape of curved V is used as a classifier and moves accordingly.
